Thinking about it, dancing is the origin of too many problems exclusive to Kpop. If it to be removed then audiences will focus more on the singing. So:
- Better music, less noise music. Korea are famous for the ballads so idol industry can take some inspirations there,
- Less unskilled idols/groups. Because it’s harder to fake good singing than good dancing. Bad dancers can blend into other members so casuals won’t spot their mistakes, the same can’t be said about singing,
- Companies will have less power on the idols. Because singing is a standardized skill, they can take the training everywhere, companies won’t have the monopoly in resources anymore.
In addition to that:
- Less boring MVs, where the idols just dancing inside the boxes. Now they’ll have to be more creative,
- They can select better songs from the albums as title tracks, not those safe dance songs as usual. My utl group for example have great discography but all good songs are ballad b-sides no one cares about, instead they got bad reputation because of the mediocre title tracks with boring choreographies.
Do y’all also think Kpop will be better without dancing?
