When a Remix is Better Than the Original Song

I feel like remixes tend to be a relatively controversial thing amongst kpop fans, with most fans feeling like they serve no further purpose than to improve Western charting. But some remixes are actually very well done, as they can introduce new or unique sounds to a group’s discography and are sometimes better than the original song.

Personally, there are two remixes that I consider to be superior to the original. The first is Batter Up (Remix) by BabyMonster; while the original Batter Up is an okay song, it really falls into some of the classic YGE formulaic pitfalls. But the remix is phenomenal! It gives the song so much more energy, and I find it to fit the group’s current musical direction a lot better.

The second song is Chk Chk Boom (Festival Version) by Stray Kids. If the original was cool and sleek, the Festival Version is vivacious and wild. This brings the hype and excitement you want out of a Stray Kids song, and I know it would be fantastic at a concert.

Other remixes I really enjoy but that don’t quite eclipse the originals are the Butter (Hotter Remix), Like Crazy (Deep House Remix), and Seven (Festival Mix).

Does anybody else have a remix of a kpop song that they think outshines the original?
