What if South Korea stopped producing K-pop idols?

I mean this in the most literal sense. The idol market is currently saturated, while mainstream recognition within Korea is virtually non-existent. If the K-pop industry were to pivot toward music-driven artists such as bands, DJs, and singer-songwriters do you think the existing K-pop fandom would remain intact, or would they transition to other genres or entertainment fields?
