Two Korean men were stopped by police from leaving for Cambodia

The airport police has deployed four officers at Cambodia flight gates to prevent young Koreans from getting involved in crimes there.

Already, there were two separate cases of Korean men being restrained from boarding flights bound for Cambodia.

1st case: The police randomly questioned a Korean man in his 20s who was waiting to board a flight to Cambodia. He not explain where he got his flight ticket, where in Cambodia he was headed to, and what his lodging accommodations were. He refused to allow the police to talk on the phone with his family or acquaintances. The police discouraged him from boarding the flight.

An hour later, a message popped up on a Telegram scammer group chat room which the police was tracking which said “failed to exit country”.

  • A Korean man in his 20s was stopped by police at Incheon Airport before a flight bound for Cambodia
  • He failed to clearly explain purpose of trip to police
  • He refused to show evidence of ticket purchase or let police contact his family/friends
  • An hour later, a message popped up on a money laundering crime ring Telegram group chat which read “출국실패“ (failed to depart)

2nd incident:

  • A man in his 30s was stopped by police before trying to board a Cambodia flight.
  • He said he was unemployed, and his Telegram acquaintance sent him a ticket to Cambodia
  • He couldn’t explain his destination or what his lodging accommodations were
  • He refused to let the police see his Telegram chat messages.

The police launched preliminary investigations into both men for possible crime links
