“The weird way fan opinions flip after scandals anyone else notice this?”

I’ve noticed something that happens in fandoms after scandals and I’m curious if others see it too.

Before a scandal, people hype an idol or group, their visuals, talent, everything. But once a scandal comes out, suddenly people act like they always knew something was off, start saying they were ugly anyway, their music was always bad, or that they were a terrible dancer or vocalist ect; when they were someone well praised for those things. Some even make compilations like “see the signs?” as if it was obvious all along.

I’m not defending idols or groups who do something wrong. I’m just talking about fan reactions and how people sometimes rewrite their opinions once a scandal happens. I also know this isn’t just a K-pop thing, it happens in lots of fandoms.

Why do people feel the need to act like they always knew everything after the fact?
