Just to preface, I love the boys and I’m excited for what is to come next!!!
But after watching their individual fancams, I feel like there’s quite a big difference in skills and I want to know everyone’s opinion on this.
Firstly, in terms of vocals, there are obviously two members who really carry this for the team (seungeon and hao), and because of that, their parts make up more than half of the song, whilst also considering the fact that seungeon gets the most vocally challenging high notes. The difference in vocal ability is also quite obvious when the other members sing much quieter or lip sync (which is understandable considering how challenging Curious is to execute).
As for dance, it’s sad that some of the members are just standing at the sides of the stage for half the performance because of their lack of parts and the way the choreo is structured with more unit moments. Seungeon is slightly weaker for dance with his moves being more awkward and less powerful, and I found that some members lack the facial expressions to convey the song well, but this is common especially with dances that come with a lot of power and for songs that are long like Curious.
When the members were in larger groups, it was less obvious where they were lacking, but as 5 not only should each member shine during their moment, but they should also be shining regardless throughout the performance because now they don’t have the numbers to hide behind, and the skill gap between the members will only make each other’s weaknesses more visible.
I know I’ve been quite harsh on the criticism and I tried to make it as constructive as possible. I do love and support them, and I’ve been following their journey the whole way. Just my take, would love to hear other people’s thoughts on this!
