Pyongyang is in North Korea, but I just tasted its legendary authentic cold noodles right here near Seoul. ๐Ÿœ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ท

Visited a historic spot called “Gwanakgwan” (๊ด€์•…๊ด€), located just outside of Seoul. Itโ€™s always a surreal feeling to realize that while Pyongyang is the capital of North Korea, its most iconic culinary legacy is widely celebrated and perfected right here in the South.

Mul-Naengmyeon (Clear broth): Gwanakgwan is famous for its incredibly clean, deep beef-based broth. Itโ€™s a legendary “if you know, you know” dish. At first, it tastes incredibly mild, but the clean umami flavor creeps up on you and becomes heavily addictive.

Bibim-Naengmyeon (Spicy): High buckwheat content noodles tossed in a rich, savory, and spicy red sauce. A perfect punch of flavor.

aeng-Jeyuk (Chilled Pork): We paired the noodles with cold boiled pork slices. The texture is perfectly firm yet melt-in-your-mouth tender, which balances the cold noodles beautifully.

Itโ€™s fascinating how food can cross borders even when people canโ€™t. Have any of you guys ever tried authentic North Korean style dishes before?
