On Saturday, Purple Kiss completed their final stop of the “A Violet to Remember” tour in Seoul, officially marking their disbandment.
During the final comments yesterday (I think it was from the Seoul stop? I lwk don’t know lol), Yuki said: “Plorys [the fandom] have given us so many things, but compared to that, I feel like I haven’t been able to do anything for them, and I’m really sorry. I wanted to take Plorys with us to really huge venues, I wanted to show them us winning awards at ceremonies, taking first place on music shows… I imagined it all hundreds of times.” (ty to @msgyuki on twt for the translation)
The first thing I thought of was what a heartbreaking thing to say that is 😭 I’ve been a fan of them since 2022 when MemeM came out, and I remember having so much hope that they were going to make it big. The fandom had so much hype when Sweet Juice went semi-viral, followed by them hitting a million monthly listeners on Spotify and Yuki making it into the final lineup for Queendom Puzzle (which dropped one album and disappeared off the face of the earth). I’m so glad that I got to see them one time on the Festa Tour in 2023, and I was so bummed that I couldn’t make it to any stops for their final tour. They’re genuinely such talented people and their songs are great, it was a mixture of bad promotion and an unclear concept that really hit the final nail in the coffin.
Wishing Purple Kiss health and happiness in the road ahead, and we will be eagerly waiting to see what the members will do in this next chapter 💜
