Team Naver unveils digital twin platform in Saudi Arabia

Naver Cloud, the cloud subsidiary of South Korean online giant Naver Corp., said on Friday that Team Naver participated in the Cityscape Global 2024 exhibition in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 11 to 14, to showcase its digital twin platform technologies.

Team Naver opened the exhibition booth with Saudi Arabia’s National Housing Company, Korea Land Korea’s Geospatial Informatix Corporation (LX), and K-water. The booth attracted over 12,000 visitors who experienced the digital twin technology firsthand.

A highlight of the booth was a diorama media table replicating cities in Saudi Arabia.

It illustrated digital scenarios such as flood simulations, urban planning, and traffic systems, garnering significant interest from attendees.

Naver also held meetings with Saudi Arabian government officials, including representatives from the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, and local municipalities.

The discussions centered on its spatial intelligence technology, the Naver Twin XR Platform, and potential collaborations such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and robotics.

Team Naver has been working on its “Saudi Arabia Major Cities Digital Twin Platform Construction Project” since signing a contract in October 2022 and commencing operations in July 2023.

The project integrates advanced technologies, including Naver’s precise mapping solution, ALike, mapping robots, and AI positioning systems, to create a 3D virtual replica of real cities.

Naver said the initiative is designed to deliver customized solutions for flood management, urban planning, and traffic optimization tailored to Saudi Arabia’s specific needs.
