My takes on things that are based on recent posts and incidents going on in K-pop.

Disclaimer: A lot of these takes are based on recent posts on other K-pop Reddit forums and incidents that have happened recently in K-pop.

  1. I think that it’s fine for Armies (BTS’s fanbase) to not like Asian acts submitting their music inside the Asian pop category due to the controversy on its creation for the Grammys. However, there is a different with not liking these acts submitting and straight up hating on them for doing so.

  2. The gap between Blackpink and K-pop groups (not BTS) is still wide as there are a lot of accolades that Blackpink has that neither girl group nor boy group has broken. The reason why a lot of non-fans think this is due to the group’s long hiatuses and some of their records being broken by new groups in K-pop.

  3. Girl groups with a male dominated fanbase will always be looked at negatively due to factors sexualization, objectification, and the lack of dedication when it comes to men supporting girl groups and female artists in general. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with girl groups having male fans as along as those fans are being respectful to those girl groups.

  4. The reason why the sexualization and objectification of male idols is so normalized is because most of their fans are women. Female fans aren’t considered as much of a threat to boy groups compared to girl groups with a male dominated fanbase hence why the concern for female idols is, so high compared to male idols.

  5. People are going way overboard with what Tarzann had done at a recent performance to which he had tried to do a crowd surf that had failed miserably. I agreed that what he did was embarrassing, but posting mocking comments towards him is just too much.

  6. People need to look more into why certain groups receive more criticism than other groups than just double standards. A lot of the time, it just comes down to how popular that group is and their status inside of the K-pop industry.

  7. The BTS, Stray Kids, and Mexico controversy should have been a lesson for fans of both to not target each other as the president’s comments was disrespectful towards both groups. However, this had led to a constant back and forth amongst comparisons and popularity of both groups in K-pop.

  8. I don’t like YG fans portraying Yang Hyun-suk as this loving father figure towards his groups under his company when this man has had incidents of mistreating his past groups that he had debuted. This man had disbanded his first girl group that his wife was in due to him not wanting her to get famous and forget about him. He had also called the members of 2NE1 “ugly” to their faces and had disbanded the group without the members knowing.

  9. Fans believing certain posts about an idol or a group without researching is getting very annoying as some of those posts are based on misinformation that is being spread by an anti of that group.
