When world leaders gathered in South Korea for the APEC 2025 summit, one performance stole the spotlight — and even the Malaysian prime minister couldn’t resist sharing it.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim posted a clip of G-Dragon (Kwon Ji-yong) on his official Instagram account after the K-pop icon’s electrifying appearance at the APEC 2025 Leaders’ Meeting welcome dinner in Gyeongju.
G-Dragon, the only K-pop artist invited as an APEC 2025 promotional ambassador, delivered a dynamic 10-minute set that drew admiration from political leaders and business executives around the world.
On Nov. 1, Anwar shared a short video of the performance with the caption:
“Many K-pop fans in Malaysia are asking me to share #DRAGON’s performance tonight.
So I’m sharing a little moment from his performance so as not to disappoint the fans.”
The post included the hashtag #KPOPFOREVER, and the accompanying video showed G-Dragon performing his hit Drama, holding a microphone wrapped in the APEC flag — a symbolic gesture that quickly went viral among K-pop fans across Southeast Asia.
A day earlier, on Oct. 31, G-Dragon had filled the grand ballroom of the Lahan Select Hotel in Gyeongju during the official APEC 2025 welcome dinner. Performing solo before an audience of heads of state and international organization leaders, he showcased three songs — Power, Home Sweet Home, and Drama — blending theatrical visuals with a message of global unity.
In another Instagram reel highlighting his meetings with various heads of state and business leaders, Anwar also used G-Dragon’s Who You as the background track — a nod to the artist’s cross-cultural influence and enduring global appeal.
