It’s something that I’ve always had a lot of trouble with when it comes to 4th gen and 5th gen groups tbh. I really wanted to give new groups a chance but I feel like the companies make less efforts and invest less in general in the Quality of the songs. That’s why my playlist is only made of 3rd gen and 2nd gen groups.
First of all the songs are less melodious, it’s basically only talk-singing or screaming and the verses are either boring, really short or not catchy enough. The only way the producers and composers find to make a song more memorable (and they fail most of the time) it’s by making the idols repeat the exact same words multiple times during the chorus. Otherwise the song will be easily forgotten.
Second of all, I feel like there is less efforts made in singing. We used to have groups like SISTAR, SNSD, MAMAMOO, RED VELVET (snif), LOVELYZ, GFriend and even weaker groups like T-ARA or KARA used to SING !
That’s why these gens were I think more memorable and that people got less and less interested in kpop. It’s less fun, less quirky, less Melodic and less interesting.
BUT if there is one good thing I can acknolwgde is the Quality of the production that sometimes can be really really good (SAVAGE, IMPURITIES, ATTENTION, I AM etc…). But I don’t know it no longer feels the same.
I still can appreciate some groups like AESPA, LESSERAFIM or NMIXX that are doing great but yeah.
