South Korea’s Presidential Pop Culture Committee, co-chaired by JYP Entertainment founder and producer Jin-young Park, will officially launch on Oct. 1 with a star-studded inaugural ceremony featuring performances by Stray Kids and Le Sserafim.
President Lee Jae-myung announced that the new body will serve as a “cornerstone for the global leap and advancement of Korean popular culture,” adding that approximately 270 citizens will be invited to participate in the celebratory event.

The committee, directly under the presidential office, was created earlier this month with Park named as co-chair alongside Culture Minister Choi Hwi-young. President Lee said the new organization aims to strengthen public–private cooperation across industries, broaden networks, and lay the foundation for Korea to become a “true global cultural powerhouse.”
“K-pop, K-dramas, K-movies and K-games will continue to stand tall at the center of the global stage,” Lee said, stressing that the launch ceremony is designed to be a festival in its own right.

Applications to attend the event will open at 4 p.m. on Wednesday through a Naver form linked in the president’s Facebook post. Performances by Stray Kids of JYP Entertainment and Le Sserafim of Hybe are set to headline the program.
