K-pop artists don’t have many good options

The truth of the New Jeans Fiasco of the recent loss. Combined with the CBX uphill battle. Even the Park Bom scandal does hold some truth. When some of the biggest names downsize to smaller companies it’s a control situation. However, going independent also has faults. Jay Park, B.I, CL, Kang Daniel, etc are artists who are split between being CEOs/producers & Active Artists.

Their predecessors that ruled the big 3 made those decisions (Lee Soo-man, Yang Hyun Suk, J.Y Park). 2/3 choose being the business minds & making active creative decisions. But they never got behind the mic again unlike J.Y.Park who opted out of business responsibility.

In short, the industry is stagnant. There aren’t many protections for celebrities in Korea. They either float within the system to survive and not be replaced or removed. Or they niche down to perseve themselves at the cost of carrying the leg work of a company or lack of resources.
