Funny.
EJAE talks about the “success recipe” of K-Pop in her interview with Wired.
Then BTS’s RM talks about the same thing in his APEC keynote speech. I am sure they did not know each other well and have time to talk to share their ideas.
Both say it all comes down to the bibimbap model and the culture.
Do you like bibimbap?
Yummi, all I know! 😋
I’m not totally sure what “bibimbap model and the culture” really means — maybe they’re idealizing it a bit too much, IMO.
But one thing I do get: Korean rhymes crazy well with English.
They blend so naturally that sometimes you forget you’re even hearing Korean at all.
In her Wired interview, EJAE explains how
“Gonna be, gonna be golden”
rhymes with
“Yeongwonhi kkaejil su eomneun.”
The spellings look nothing alike, but when you hear them together — they sound like they’re born from the same line.
What do you think?
Do you agree with RM and EJAE that the success recipe for K-Pop (and K-Wave) is the bibimbap model and the culture?
