I don’t know why but I feel like I am in the minority when I see some of what people claim as “misogyny” being just barely that.
I have worked with a foundation that helped free women in hardship areas from forced marriages and female genital mutilation. It’s one of those things that changes how you view life and I find it ridiculous that in kpop feminism is used in a way that’s almost weaponized.
Some things can be criticized as misogyny for example saying that a woman’s success is all thanks to a man in her life or slutshaming her etc but sometimes people use criticisms on music and art as proof of misogyny.
A post about someone’s visuals being deleted isn’t misogyny (so many people’s posts are deleted daily but they don’t cause a big fuss) and posts discussing one of the biggest case in kpop where a group sides with a person who hates feminism and coached a man on how to be an effective abuser isn’t misogyny.
I feel like there’s more smoke for non issues than actual misogyny and it’s absurd. And most of these things tend to be kpop fanwars from the cursed app where those who are being labeled as the biggest victims of misogyny’s fans are absolutely brutal and misogynistic towards other ggs and minors(as well as using misogynistic tropes towards bgs they perceive as feminine).
Most people no longer discuss certain groups and soloists (if you have observed) because any slight criticism becomes automatic “that sub hates us”, “this is misogyny”
Can we focus on the sexual exploitation of vulnerable idols and the way the courts are weaponized against them(they can be sued for defamation for exposing their abusers)?
Btw I am not saying that there’s no misogyny but can we not use something this serious for unserious things. (This was in part triggered by a post on here and a comment I saw where someone labeled a commenter as a misogynist because she said that while she liked the mv, she didn’t enjoy the production). Let’s not cheapen a word that represents life/death for many across the globe especially in underprivileged regions.
