If we really want idols to be more comfortable talking about their sexuality, maybe we should stop… acting so weird when they do?

I know the title may sound a bit confusing out of context. Katseye as most of us have heard have a few members that have publicly come out and are very vocal about their support for the community. You could say this is a big step forward and I hope that this could maybe make its transition into Kpop idols being able to do the same (if they want to and feel comfortable obviously).

But, I think with how fans are acting towards Katseye, with fans that are (according to the fans themselves) supposed to be more accepting, it shows us that we are FAR from ever making it normal.

Because why do people try to force this narrative onto Daniela and Yoonchae that they’re homophobic? (as a joke a few times is fine but it’s over the top atp)

And why do so many fans act as if Lara or Megan possibly having a boyfriend, makes them queerbaiters? Lara said she was queer, that’s an umbrella term, and Megan literally said she is bi? Are we really going back to the 2000s? Do people still not understand that being bisexual means you are into both genders? (also real people CAN’T QUEERBAIT OMG)

And why do fans KEEP pressuring Manon to state what her sexuality is when she has said herself that she doesn’t want to talk about it?

I think what Katseye is doing is huge and could have a very positive influence and possibly transition into idols being more open, but for that, the fans also have to be able to react normally. So far? Hmm, we’re not quite there yet
