Like… genuinely.
The ending of “Self Crucifixion” actually left me sitting there for a minute because I couldn’t process what I just heard. He literally used audio from REAL NEWS SEGMENTS about himself.. his scandals, hospitalization, controversies, everything. and just let it play. No defense or explanation nothing. Just the ACTUAL RAW media narratives stacked on top of each other.
And what amazes me is how openly it feels like he’s calling out the way Korean media and public perception treated him. Not in a subtle, metaphor way like Kpop usually does yk?? but directly. Almost uncomfortably direct.
I’ve never seen a kpop artist confront their past like this especially not something this sensitive. Usually it’s either avoided, sugarcoated, or turned into something vague. But this felt like: “This is what you said about me. This is what you turned me into. Listen to it.”
OH ALSO I just have to say I genuinely LOVE this album. The whole project feels insane in the best way. It’s not just the concept yk? the actual music sounds amazing too. The audio mixing across the album is honestly crazy good. Everything sounds so clean, detailed, and intentional, and it really adds to how immersive the whole experience is. You guys HAVE to listen to this with headphones or else yall are missing out
And you guys should seriously check out the lyrics across the whole album too there are moments where he’s actually really comedic and sarcastic, which feels so him lol😂 It’s not just dark and heavy all the way through.
The range is honestly wild too!! there are soft songs, pop moments, straight up angry tracks, really dark sections, and then even some ambient atmospheric stuff. It doesn’t feel “repetitive” at all.
Whether people like the sound or not I feel like this deserves recognition for how bold it is alone. This doesn’t feel like a “safe” comeback at all.
Am I overthinking this or did anyone else feel the same way?
