Hi everyone!
I’m a student currently working on my research project about gastrodiplomacy, the use of food as a tool of soft power. My case study focuses on South Korea and how Korean cuisine has been promoted internationally since the 2000s.
I’d love to hear your honest thoughts and experiences about Korean food. Your answers will really help me understand how it is perceived abroad. Thank you so much for taking the time.
Here are some guiding questions (you don’t have to answer all of them, just what you feel comfortable with):
-
Have you ever tried Korean food? If yes, what was your first impression?
-
Which Korean dish is your favorite (or least favorite), and why?
-
Do you think Korean food has improved South Korea’s image in your country?
-
How does Korean cuisine compare to other countries cuisines (Japanese, Chinese, France, etc.)?
-
Do you see Korean food as part of the “Korean Wave” (K-pop, K-dramas, etc.) or more as a separate cultural experience?
Thanks again for sharing your views!
