so if you haven’t read gun-it’s apology already, I would highly suggest a read-through because its one of the rare apologies where you can genuinely feel some sort of apologetic behavior through the text. But mainly, not only did he admit to everything – he shared context over it all.
The main topic for this post is him mentioning how he was so over the edge and paranoid because of saesangs. Specifically, how they tagged his car and was getting his live location. If this happened to him, there is a high probability it has happened to his members as well or they are at risk of this happening to them. The way that their own company knew about this but did not take ANY action while for this situation they took action less than a day by terminating his contract really shows the company’s priorities. And the thing is, it’s probably many other companies as well. The idea that such behavior is “let off” by companies who are supposed to be protecting their artists really sets precedent towards more saesang behavior at a higher level. The fact that this is a “normality” is insane and the worst part about this is that not a lot of idols can speak up about this because those obsessive fans tend to bring a lot of money but at what cost? The fact that a member had faced intense paranoia or even had to go through that experience should receive mental health counseling at the very least but its so crazy how the company didnt even do that let alone take any action. I am really curious to hear your opinions on this from saesang behaviors to company’s role because it is so insane that such things exist especially in a democratic country where law and order presides over all.
I was also pretty intrigued to ask how you guys feel about him leaving and do u think he deserved it??? I personally felt like considering the circumstances, a sudden contract termination without explanation from the company and having to wait for the idol themselves to tell the story is insane – and considering the context of the clips, etc. I cant help but wonder if he even deserved it all like a hiatus or something imo would have been more than sufficient and the thing is the company took this stance after the hate from k-fans over the past day and they terminated his contract without even trying to explain the fans the context of the clips which I find pretty weird because if fans still hated him for it after it was explained I can understand him leaving the group but leaving it at a blank space made me so confused. I think the main reason I probably feel like this is because most of the Kpop idols who have committed far worse crimes have barely gotten a slap on their wrist and continued on to have a successful career. I also saw a tweet about how Kpop standards should not be held onto rock bands (idk if xh is considered as rock in particular) but how do u guys feel about that statement, imo its pretty shifty depending on how the band is marketed but idk
