Going to college made me realize how insane it is that KPop makes us think 20-22 is “old”

Here I am crashing out over my degree and major & electives, then looking back at KPop idols ages, the unnie/hyung have always debuted at like 19 or 21 at oldest. You’ll basically never see any maknae who’s like 20, maybe barely 18 at oldest. Irene debuted at 23 which is a common age ppl start their first full-time job & somehow shes always poked fun of for being really old compared to other idols.

I can’t ever imagine the stress of training for at least 1-2 years prior, then choosing the right company and right group & trust your whole life career in a celeb industry at such a young age. It’s diabolical how normalized it is in KPop to view early 20s as “old” or “mature” enough to be totally professional & sensible for a possibly lifetime commitment.
