First time making Mayak Eggs: how should it smell?

Hi! It’s my first time trying to make Mayak eggs. I boiled the eggs for 7 minutes and made the marinade using low sodium (I think 50% sodium) soy sauce and a bit of vinegar. After a few hours, I checked on the eggs, and when I opened the Tupperware I smelled a pretty noticeable eggy smell. I just wanted to ask if this is expected and safe, or if I’ve made a mistake along the way. I think I may not have been as gentle as I could have been peeling the eggs, and I did notice some minor breakage.

Please let me know! It’s my first post, so let me know if I’m breaking any etiquette rules.

Edit: Also, the smell did go away after moment. Forgot to mention it.
