It honestly feels like we’re on the edge of something big. Just like how the Thai wave started with Lisa, BamBam, and Ten, Filipino idols are slowly—but surely—rising in K-pop, and it’s so exciting to watch.
We’ve got Sophia Laforteza making moves with KATSEYE, Gehlee and Elisia charming everyone in UNIS, and Chanty holding it down in Lapillus. Even way back, Kriesha Chu was already showing what Filipinos could do on K-Pop Star. And it’s not just the girls—Leo from TFN is proudly Filipino, and Bae from YOUNG POSSE is repping as well.
And if you look at P-pop, groups like SB19 have already proven that Filipinos can train like K-idols and deliver. BINI and Alamat are showing up with world-class visuals and stage presence that’s turning heads beyond the Philippines.
Filipinos bring so much heart, talent, and drive. We’ve always had it—but now the rest of the world is finally catching on. Don’t be surprised when the next K-pop star everyone’s obsessed with turns out to be Filipino.
I honestly thought, viets are the next one because of hanni because they’re generally more east asian passing.
