Whenever I listen to K-pop songs or watch Korean entertainment content, I notice that foreign comments completely take over the comment section. Sometimes, it’s hard to find any comments in Korean at all.
This made me wonder—do Koreans find this annoying? Do they feel like their space, which used to reflect their local experience, is now less about them because of the huge number of foreign comments? Every culture has its own inside jokes, references, and shared experiences that only locals fully understand, so maybe some Koreans feel like their content is losing its original vibe.
At the same time, I know this isn’t really comparable to Western pop culture since English is a global language, and it’s pretty normal for Western entertainment to have international engagement without affecting the local audience’s experience in the same way.
So, do Koreans see this as a downside, like their online spaces are becoming less “theirs”? Or do they take it as proof of their industry’s global success and don’t mind it at all?
