Pepero day conspiracy

Today was Pepero Day, as many people in Korea might have noticed. Yes, it’s clearly a commercial gimmick to get us to buy more snacks, but hey, having an excuse to enjoy some treats isn’t the worst thing.

In my office, we usually exchange Pepero, and I sometimes like to add a personal message on the back of the box. There’s typically a small space designated for this, which I think adds a nice touch. But this year, for reasons unknown… none of the Pepero boxes had any spot for writing a message.

As I was lamenting this tragic change, a few coworkers chimed in, claiming there was never a memo space on the back of the Pepero box. Naturally, I quickly found a picture online to prove I wasn’t imagining it. But even with evidence, a few of them were still skeptical, saying those boxes with memo spaces must have disappeared a long time ago.

Now I’m thoroughly confused… Was I the only one writing on the back of Pepero boxes? Why did they remove the memo space? Is there some snack conspiracy afoot?

So many questions, so few answers…
