Just discovered my favorite debut in K-Pop- the Billage of perception: chapter one

I recently decided to explore Billlie’s discography, and started by listening to their first release. And I was very impressed.

RING X RING is one of my favorite attempts at experimental music in K-Pop- it served as one of my reasons to check them out in the first place. It was a very bold decision to debut with it, a risk not many would have taken and I’m glad they did.

flipp!ng a coin is catchy and extremely fun. As an NMIXX fan, this song was right up my alley. I loved the beautiful vocals in the pre-chorus followed by the “bratty” sound of the chorus. The bridge was also really pretty.

FLOWERLD is heavenly. I have never really been one for ballads or slow songs, but I occasionally come across one I really like- and this definitely falls into that category. It has potential to become my favorite ballad in K-Pop after a few more listens. The key change was awesome and really emphasized the emotion in the song. By this point, the album has established one thing- these girls can sing.

the eleventh day is a slow, jazzy song. It is very well made, very easy to vibe to. I was again impressed by how well the girls delivered the vocals in this song- it’s not the kind of singing I’ve encountered a lot in K-Pop.

everybody’s got a $ECRET is my favorite song of the album right now. The sample was incorporated really well and it really matches the concept they were going with. If RING X RING was not the title track, this would have been the obvious choice.

the rumor is rap-heavy, vibey and enjoyable. The main rapper of the group is Moon Sua, if I’m correct? She is really good. I loved the dialogue thing they had going on, and I love how the lyrics really seemed to match the title of the song.

All in all, this is one of the strongest EPs I have ever listened to overall, and easily my favorite debut EP, overtaking Savage by aespa. Despite the songs being very different from each other, it does not feel random or disconnected. The songs are well made and very interesting. No song feels like a filler, and I think this EP does an amazing job establishing a musical identity for the group without restricting them in the slightest.

I am surprised that I don’t see it mentioned in discussions more often. I would recommend this EP to anyone who is reading this post and has not listened to it yet.
