Hey, it’s kinda a slow Sunday for me and with the M/V for Imaginary Friend just around the corner, I was thinking to ask my fellow MIDZY here what your thoughts are.
Does it seem to you like we’ve been dragging our feet when it comes to supporting ITZY during this comeback with GOLD and do you think there is more we could or should do to help them? I also feel like I should meantion that I am writing this in good faith and not to instigate something.
To kick things off, I’d like to lead with a few positive observations. I am really loving the supportiveness in the YouTube comments under ITZY content. It’s amazing how much love ITZY is receiving there. Also, I think it is amazing how high the View to Like ratio on GOLD M/V is, which shows how many organic impressions they’re getting. Another cool thing to see is just how much love Lia has been showered with since her return. You folks are amazing.
Still, the competition is fierce and there is a lot of content that in some shape or form “competes” between groups. I generally believe that compared to Born To Be, us MIDZY are stronger than ever, but have to consider that ITZY has kind of lost the “mainstream” propulsion, so its the core base of the fandom that has to do the lifting.
I think MIDZY kicked off the comeback with strong support, but I am lately wondering if we’re not losing momentum. Do you think that title-track “GOLD” being so divisive had an effect? The track seems to be a bit of an experiment and I am not sure the girls like the track themselves that much. For one, you don’t see many collabs/challenges posted for it and when Ryujin appeared on “Nothing Much Prepared” it also seemed like she was reluctant to promote the song at all. Could the team be banking on “Imaginary Friend”?
Personally, I am really happy with this comeback and loving every track on the album. However, I find that the variety show aspect of ITZY is kinda weak.
Another point that I noticed,regards to to Reddit. It does seem to me that MIDZY don’t have a strong presence on here. Whenever I see a fun thread where many fandoms come to say something about their faves, I’d always scroll to find MIDZY, but don’t find them.
Phew… that’s enough rambling from me, so let me get to the point. What do you, as MIDZY, think about the recent comeback so far. Have ITZY/Div 2 been promoting well and have MIDZY been responding well, supporting well and generally showing enough “fervour” comparable to other group fandoms? Also, did you buy albums? If so, which version did you buy and did you like it? What did you think of the sales numbers?
