So recently, TOP held an unannounced listening party for his new album and for 140 people per session. If you saw the videos, it was very chaotic, and I even saw some fans shoving their album copies on his face and shoulders. And that’s when he kind of got annoyed and told off the fans to calm down and express his worries about their safety.
Anyway, as a long-time VIP, I really loved TOP when he was in BIGBANG. He was a crucial part of their sound and identity. However, he has expressed numerous times that he doesn’t want to be associated with BIGBANG anymore.
I know fans will be out to get me, but if you search just the word TOP without adding BIGBANG to it, you will only get so far. He is really talented, but you can’t deny BIGBANG is a massive influence. Even Seungri is still trying to cash in on that name.
I guess I’m sad that TOP had to go through this messy listening party without the organization and budget that comes with the name BIGBANG. I watched ZIPDaesung’s fan party for 50 people and it was so well-organized. The fans got some snacks, giveaways, took pictures with Daesung, and even played games with him. I know ZIP Daesung is a separate production, but I just feel that if TOP were still with BIGBANG, he would have staff to organize his meets with his fans. Sadly, he chose not to be in BIGBANG anymore. I really hope the best for TOP.
