It might be because so many recent releases from these GGs are EDM-based, but we’ve had house from H2H with FOCUS and RUDE!, KiiiKiii with 404, and i-dle’s Mono leaning into future house. Then there’s Blackpink’s JUMP going for hardstyle/techno, GO mixing techno and dubstep, KATSEYE’s PINKY UP with hyperpop/techno, Le sserafim’s CELEBRATION leaning into hardstyle, and Illit’s new song, It’s Me, also sitting in that hyperpop/techno space. There are a few other GGs that have leaned into this sound recently too, but I can’t recall them off the top of my head right now.
I don’t know what exactly triggered all these girl groups to lean so heavily into EDM-related genres, but I wish the releases were spaced out more because I’m starting to feel a bit fatigued with so many EDM-based title tracks dropping back to back from various groups. Maybe this sentiment grew even stronger recently with KATSEYE, Le sserafim, and Illit all releasing songs around the same time with a similar soundscape, so it’s beginning to blur together.
I’m probably in the minority here, but I was wondering if anyone else feels the same kind of EDM fatigue with these techno, house, hyperpop, hardstyle releases.
