Accountability goes both ways: the accuser and the accused.

In light of the recent Karina instagram post scandal:

I’ve been seeing a lot of misinformation about the situation from people and I’ve not taken a side until now due to a few facts

Firstly, the actual post was taken down quite fast and the fact that all information about Korean political imagery is in Korean which is quite hard to translate into English. But this post is in defence of karina

Yes, she should take accountability for the fact that she should have known about the fact that her photos could have their meaning misconstrued heavily and that the election period is coming up. Despite this there has been a lot of misinformation about the political imagery used in the post.

The rose is not a symbol of the PPP party but rather a symbol for the 2025 elections referring back to 2017 when they impeached another president, which has been used again this year to represent the civil rights the country has strived to achieve and maintain. Another interpretation of the rose could be the socialist party in Korea, not the PPP.

In respect to people comparing her to an American conservative or MAGA, I have to ask you if you realise just how different they are, the number 2 and the colour red are very vague and is very different from wearing an elephant or a maga hat since those are far more specific things.

If the intent was to signal that she was a conservative it is very odd and unlikely since the post was a photo dump in Japan where the other post had her hold a blue plate with blue nails, is she a conservative liberal socialist then?

There aren’t three signs like some are pointing out in order to say it’s undeniable, the rose I have already clarified and it’s two, the red and number two, which is also conflicting with the blue nails and plate and the rose. I know a lot of people haven’t actually seen the post which is why they are so unhesitant.

And I’m not saying that the post is completely free of guilt since she took it down within 10 minutes and issued an apology on her bubble as well as sm put out a statement, she had no political intent and in my opinion, we simply have to believe her at this point.

In relation the people saying that we should hold her accountable for her actions, we are, however some have chosen purport to refer to the image in context and have blindly believed what has been floating online.

I hope in the future we as people take the time to analyse the situation with clear minds, witch hunts and accusations with more intent to hurt someone than to actually find out is they are morally reprehensible is not progressive for the situation at hand.

Finally, when talking about boy groups not being held accountable, usually it’s because girl groups are more popular and because of the higher standard people have for women, in spite of this it doesn’t negate the responsibility that women also have for their actions, we should be holding both men and women for their acts. The problem with shutting down the sexist standpoint arises when no accountability is taken on one side, in most cases being the men not being taken accountable.

I am willing to clarify anything else in the comments, if you are someone who genuinely is concerned I can clearly some things up.

Let us view the situation with clear eyes to negate the media flairs we often get swept up in, and take accountability on both ends, we shouldn’t be spreading false facts.

Certainty is the tool of a foolish and impressionable populous, our hesitation is what allows us to live as people, not mere sheep in a herd. I hope in the future we think a little longer than simply following the first claim we set eyes on, and perhaps we should put our phones down and think things through more often.
