I’ve just been thinking about what makes bts so popular despite other groups also being amazing and theres my kpop thoughts
btw its not in any order

their music videos are focused on the members’ faces, familiarizing them

their music is more vocal focused than dance focused (voices are the first things that introduces you to a song)

you can hear their voices clearly in their songs (other groups do like distortion, etc) so it establishes their soulful brand

they have a story and brand: a group of passionate boys that love each other and went through a lot together –> people admire them because they represent closeness

good facial expressions

each member is quite different from each other

all of them are handsome

all their songs are quite emotional (you can hear the emotion, other groups may focus on hit sounds than emotion)

their singing is very dynamic and each members’ voices are different

Namjoon is very leadership type charismatic

j-hope brings life to variety shows (i think another reason for their popularity is the variety shows propagating their brand)
