I’ve noticed that when K-pop fans talk about visuals, they often mean very different things. Personally, I think there are three main types of idols who are considered attractive:
- Clean Visuals These idols are known for their facial harmony, elegant features, and effortless beauty. They often look stunning even with little to no styling and tend to fit the traditional Korean beauty standards.
Examples:
Yoona (SNSD)
Cha Eun-woo (ASTRO)
Minji (NewJeans)
Sullyoon (NMIXX)
Sunghoon (ENHYPEN)
Winter (aespa)
Jisoo (BLACKPINK)
- Charisma Visuals These idols may be attractive on their own, but what really elevates them is their aura, confidence, expressions, and stage presence. They’re the kind of people you can’t stop looking at when they perform.
Examples:
Jennie (BLACKPINK)
Karina (aespa)
V (BTS)
Heeseung / Evan (former ENHYPEN)
Hyunjin (Stray Kids)
Yeji (ITZY)
San (ATEEZ)
- Charming Visuals These idols might not fit the classic “visual” mold as closely, but they’re incredibly attractive because of their personality, smile, expressions, and overall vibe. The more you watch them, the more attractive they become.
Examples:
Hanni (NewJeans)
Sunoo (ENHYPEN)
Nayeon (TWICE)
Jungwon (ENHYPEN
Personally, while I can appreciate a classic clean visual, I find myself gravitating more toward Charisma Visuals and Charming Visuals. A lot of my favorite idols aren’t necessarily the ones I’d immediately label as the most conventionally beautiful or handsome—they’re the ones who have something about them that keeps drawing me in, whether it’s their stage presence, personality, expressions, or overall vibe.
Maybe that’s why idols like Hanni, Heeseung/Evan, Sunoo, Jennie, tend to catch my attention more. The more I watch them, the more attractive they become.
