Are fansites really that different from sasaengs?

I’ve always thought fansites exist in this weird grey area between regular fans and sasaengs.

Obviously not every fansite is a sasaeng, but some of the behavior associated with fansites can get pretty invasive: following idols to airports or schedules, waiting outside hotels or private events, trying to photograph them in private spaces, tracking their movements, or going to extreme lengths to get close-up footage. Some also seem to feel entitled to certain seats or access because they’re “providing content” for the fandom.

So where do we actually draw the line? Is there a meaningful difference between a “dedicated fansite” and a sasaeng based on what they do, or do we give fansites a pass because the content they produce is ultimately useful/enjoyable for the fandom?

At what point does “supporting your idol” become stalking or an invasion of privacy?
