The deli chicken hasn’t changed much. The supermarket has.

Homeplus is one of Korea’s major supermarket chains, and I stopped by one of their stores after it reopened.

I’ve always thought Homeplus was especially good at deli food, and the chicken was still about as good as I remembered.

But the store itself felt very different.

I’d been to this store before, so I remembered what it looked like when it was operating normally. This time, the sales area was much smaller, and some sections were still almost empty.

It was a strange contrast.

The deli still felt familiar. The rest of the store looked like it was still trying to find its footing.

Have you ever seen a major retail chain come back after getting this far down?
