I saw this on the Music subreddit and thought I would bring it here. For me, the main one is BTS’s BE, a quintessential pandemic album that, imo, captured the zeitgeist perfectly. From discussing the passing of time while the world seems to be stuck in one place (Life Goes On), to the restlessness we all felt and the escapism of daydreaming (Fly to My Room), to missing our loved ones and celebrating human connection (Telepathy), to the bouts of depression so many of us experienced because everything felt bleak (Blue & Grey), to the hustle culture that somehow made us feel like we weren’t doing enough even in the middle of a global pandemic (Dis-ease), to the quiet assurance that things would eventually get better (Life Goes On), to the celebration of being together and simply enjoying life (Stay and Dynamite); BE is one of those albums that will always take me back to that time.
Apart from BE, Map of the Soul: 7 also reminds me so much of lockdown, especially since it was released right before everything shut down and I listened to it on repeat as the world around me changed. Outside of BTS, that was also a period when I was listening to a lot of different artists, and two other K-pop albums really stood out to me and got played a lot: (G)I-DLE’s OMG and TWICE’s Formula of Love. So what albums (and if you are not an album person, songs) immediately remind you of lockdown or that whole period in general?
