This is more of a confession I guess.
Don’t take it too seriously. It’s not that deep. I’m just sharing my sidequest as a normal person becoming a kpop influencer lol.
I became a kpop fan a year ago. I started stanning a big bg group and fell into a rabbithole. Naturally, I made my first fan account on X with 0 followers and just started being part of the fandom. I’m surprised how easy it is to be influential in fandom spaces??? I know kpop fandoms have millions of fans or hundreds thousands (idk) but I thought I’d go unnoticed?
My followers rapidly increased to 10…50…100…200…800…2000…3000 and so it goes on around almsot 10k now. I’m just surprised why it’s this easy? I’m not a fanbase account or a translation account and I’m not a shooter/anti account. I don’t have X premium either. I just have a stan account where I talk a lot and I suppose others could relate. This is where I learned big accounts have huge voices in any fandom. It felt weird. I could influence fans in other continents, set narratives about the members, start or stop fanwars, mobilize a group of people for fan projects, change the tide of opinions, and affect some real-life stuff like making a viral meme or an idea that a member or their agency uses.
One of the craziest one was when I tagged a celebrity who liked the group and I got a direct reply from them?? 😭 I talked to a celebrity because of my high engagement. That’s crazy. But it suddenly started feeling like a job so I took a step back because I just wanted less pressure as a fan.
It’s fun to be invited to decision-making gcs of fandom events, promos, planning, insider info, and stuff with other big accounts. Though but it’s also weird that I suddenly have such a huge reach after only being a fan for a year. I’m basically a baby fan. People listen to my opinions about the group and it becomes narrative?? Just like that?? That’s crazy to me.
I promise I’m a normal person and not an anti of anyone, but it makes me think that great power comes with great responsinility (lol spiderman). There are anti accounts with a huge reach and following and they’re probably poisons in their fandom. I learned big accounts can influence fandom culture a lot. And that it’s easy to be a big account in kpop.
