I feel kinda bad for newer fans of 2nd and 3rd Gen groups.

This is just a random thought that came into my mind.

As we grow with the genre, newer fans get added every year along the road. Especially since the last couple of years.

And there are signs. Signs of the dusk of entire 2nd Gen groups and most of the 3rd Gen groups. Yes there are groups that are coming back from those generations. But, tbh these are all sort-lived. No hate to anyone but there’s a reason we have generations in kpop. At the same time, all of these groups are in the legend status who will be remembered for the longest of time.

The people who just became their fans and entered this rabbit hole called kpop, can’t experience those magical moments when their fav artists were peaking in their careers. The things we old fans have seen or experienced as fans is truly something can’t be described in wordings. They can never experience those magical “firsts” of their favs. For a clearer picture, my nephews are getting into kpop now. And with how mature they are as compared to their age, they are getting absorbed into BTS, EXO, GOT7, Blackpink, RedVelvet, Twice, etc. They like the newer groups as well. But, when it comes to previous Gen groups, they kinda seem fascinated. Funny enough, they often ask me many questions about the groups. And sometimes I am unable to explain just coz those things are not that easily explainable with just words. I get excited in the process and their faces go from admiration to jealousy. lol.

People always wonder and I see many posts in here as well, where the question is asked repeatedly. “Why xx Generation is so short?” “Why are kpop careers are so short-lived?” etc etc.

I just want to say that the pacing in kpop is far more rapid than any other industry in the world. It’s just too fast, and even outgrows the fans like me sometimes. That’s why I think many fans are not feeling kpop as they used to. The whole industry is ever growing and rapidly changing with it as well. The things your favs used to do, would mostly avoid to do now. Trends and flow of everything changes with every couple of months in kpop. And as u notice, the pacing is just increasing day by day. 5 years back, you wouldn’t get this feeling. Same thing with the fans who jumped on the wagon 5 years from now. The pacing is just gonna get worse as time goes by.

There’s always things u long for, or miss badly in particular. But newer fans won’t know that feeling. They will get it after the next 5 years, when their own fav group or artist would face the ever changing challenges of the industry.

And amidst all of them, there are fans like my nephews. They like groups that are on their later years of their careers. Things that we experienced back in the day, would most likely never gonna happen again.

That’s why I always say this to my nephews. “Like the newer groups. Get into them. Try to experience their journey as much as u can. I am not saying don’t get into older groups. I would rather say, u should. But take it as a movie that released few years back. Get entertained and enjoy it. Rather than getting too deep into them.”
