I feel like ZB1 still hasn’t had an actual hit song yet… especially domestically.
And before anyone attacks me 😭 I’m not saying they’re unsuccessful at all, they clearly have a strong fandom and good sales. But when I say “hit,” I mean a song that genuinely breaks into the Korean GP and becomes widely known outside the fandom. Meanwhile other 5th gen BGs already have songs that the GP actually recognizes such as TWS “plot twist”, RIIZE “Get A Guitar”, BND “Earth, Wind & Fire”, Cortis “GO!”, etc.
I guess “In Bloom” was their biggest era domestically? But that was also their debut song. None of their title tracks after that such as “Crush,” “Good So Bad,” “Blue,” “Iconik,” etc. really escaped the fandom space.
Even internationally, ZB1’s streaming numbers are kinda surprising for a top 5th gen group since they still don’t have a song over 100M Spotify streams.
But honestly… they just released “TOP 5” and it might finally be the song? It’s super catchy, easy to listen to, and feels much more GP-friendly than some of their previous titles. I love it!!! I could actually imagine this one gaining traction beyond the fandom if promoted right.
Also maybe the lineup being fully Korean now could help them connect more with the Korean public long-term? Not sure if that’ll make a difference but I’m curious to see what happens this era
