Whenever an idol does something and someone says “they probably didn’t know” or something along those lines, people will get super defensive and hostile about it. People act like they themselves were born with knowledge, and I don’t get it. I understand it if the person has done some questionable and ignorant things on multiple occasions, but when it’s someone’s first time doing something why is it wrong to give some grace? That’s not “babying” an idol. I think it’s odd for it to be seen as such. People don’t just become adults and magically know everything.
I’m NOT saying to not acknowledge that an idol has done wrong. I just feel like people are quick to hate and it’s kind of ridiculous ngl. No one is born knowing everything. People just do things without much thought as well. I don’t know why people like to act like they don’t. Maybe it’s an online thing where people just seem to be so pretentious. Idk.
This isn’t just about recent events either. I’ve been into K-pop for over 10 years, and this has been a constant thing. I just want to better understand why it’s wrong to give idols some grace when everyone’s life experiences are different. Do people not give the average person some grace or is it just idols that are expected to be perfect? Does it depend on what’s done? I’m curious as to y’all’s opinions.
I’m looking to have a very respectful conversation about this. If you’re just going to be rude then don’t bother commenting honestly.
