Why do people say K-pop sounds “too Black” when hip-hop and rap are already major global genres. What do they expect it to sound like instead?

I’ve been seeing people criticize new K-pop releases for sounding “too black” especially with how much hip-hop and R&B influence is in them. But that confuses me because those genres are literally some of the biggest influences in global music right now. Like… what’s the alternative they’re expecting?

For example, BTS’s new album and Cortis. You can clearly hear hip-hop, or R&B parts. But instead of just calling it genre, people frame it as a problem. And I don’t get it.

Hip-hop and rap come from Black culture, so of course they’re going to carry that influence no matter who uses them. That doesn’t make the music “too black” it just means it’s rooted in a specific cultural origin. And if K-pop is supposed to be global and experimental, wouldn’t it naturally include those sounds?
