Is SM the most creatively restrictive big 4 company when it comes to their girl groups?

For some reason, today I decided to check the credits off of some albums/mini’s that SM’s girl groups have released and noticed that it seems like SM is a lot more restrictive when it comes to creative liberties in comparison to the other big 4 companies? Is anyone aware if their more established/senior girl groups get more of a say with their concepts, composition and writing at all? SM has a reputation for crafting cohesive, well thought out discographies (RV/f(x) come to mind) yet it’s disappointing to see that the creative freedoms of the members were rather limited in comparison to other companies where we frequently see that songwriting and production credits for idols have become more commonplace.
