Many K-Pop fans are kind of forgetting that comebacks are not just about the music.

Obviously this is not all or even most K-Pop fans.

A lot of the talk now is just about the song. If K-Pop was just about the music, most of us would be listening to other music instead.

K-Pop at it’s core is not about the music. K-Pop is about being a part of something. It’s not a song, it’s an experience. It’s a project. it’s an art piece that spans multiple art forms (like singing, dancing, and storytelling). It’s an era.

I consider K-Pop to essentially be it’s own sub-art form for these reasons and that’s why I find it so hard to compare to non-K-Pop music. Some songs can literally only be good in the context of K-Pop.

And that is because of things like concept work, choreos, performances, lore, music videos etc.

If you remember this and not just go into every comeback with a music critic mindset, you will find yourself enjoying a lot more K-Pop then you would otherwise.
