Is it normal for opposite genders in Korea to talk every day?

There’s this Korean guy I’ve been close with for a while. We message almost every day for about 6 months now. He updates me about his day, calls me when he can’t reach me, sends me pictures (like when he gets a haircut or even when he’s in the hospital getting an IV), checks on me when I disappear, and comes to me when he has problems.

He also sends me song recommendations, jokes around with me, and sometimes says things that feel a bit… intimate? But at the same time, he never directly says he likes me, and sometimes he acts like I’m “just a friend.”

So I’m confused. Is this normal between opposite genders in Korea? Do Korean guys usually behave like this with female friends? Or is this something they only do when they actually have feelings?

I’m not Korean, so I don’t want to misread cultural things. Any insight would help. Thank you!
