i wasn’t interested in CYE at aLL bc all their music so far was very much the sound that i personally feel is oversaturated in 5th gen bgs and just doesnt do it for me personally/subjectively haha
then i saw what talented dancers they are when they did that collab stage with ahof (love that group) but i still wasn’t inclined to check them out.
then youtube recommended the SOB teaser and i was EXTREMELY pleasantly surprised!! i just knEw this song was going to be my taste and now that the mv is out, i can confirm i LOVE this song sm💀
it’s giving slay club beat and reminds me of thunder by seventeen (huge compliment bc im obsessed w that song lol)
and, during these times where some groups are nervous ab changing up their sound, i really just want to emphasize that a risk like that can often pay off. bc i probably would’ve never engaged with another piece of CYE media if it wasn’t for this switch up – which also allows their talent to shine bc they can slay more than one sound/vibe
now im already compiling a playlist of their youtube content and saving pins of them on pinterest so i can get stuck into the group lol. and thats regardless of what their future music will sound like, bc this one single song has hooked me enough to want to “get to know” the group as ppl.
to summarize: branching out and trying new vibes and sounds is often a good way to get new fans that would typically have no interest. and for all the existing fans who don’t like the switch up, aLL of their previous music is still available for you to listen to lol
