Blackpink’s Jennie has unveiled a new Korean font she personally designed, aiming to share the beauty of Hangul with audiences around the world.
Released on Thursday to celebrate Hangul Day, the font, officially titled Zen Serif, combines the classic Western blackletter style with modern Korean characters. By minimizing ornamentation and adding smooth, fluid curves, it achieves a refined yet approachable aesthetic.
The project was developed in collaboration with Meta Platforms, making Zen Serif the first-ever Korean font available on Instagram’s short-form video editing app “Edits.” The font can also be downloaded for free from OA Entertainment’s official website.
OA Entertainment said, “Just as King Sejong created Hangul to make writing accessible to all, Jennie hopes to carry on that spirit by introducing the artistry and value of Hangul to fans worldwide.” The agency added that the project merges traditional aesthetics with a modern sensibility, allowing more people to use Hangul both conveniently and beautifully.
Jennie has long expressed pride in her Korean heritage, from her debut solo track “Seoul City,” which highlighted the charm of Korea, to her role as Seoul Tourism Honorary Ambassador, promoting the city’s landmarks through global campaigns.
Currently, Jennie is on Blackpink’s world tour “Deadline,” which recently made headlines for the group’s historic performance at London’s Wembley Stadium, the first-ever by a Korean girl group.
