How important is a meal with rice for Koreans?

I randomly remembered how my Korean ex boyfriend would often eat instant ramen together with those microwave rice bowls (not on its own, usually with some protein or side dishes too). When I asked him if he doesn’t feel that this is a bit too much carbs, he said that many Koreans like to eat rice with everything, including combined with other carbs.

When I was living in Korea I would indeed sometimes see burger places (usually in the delivery app) that were selling sets like Burger + 1 bowl of rice (+drink). Also when I went to eat 쌀국수 i often saw that people would order fried rice alongside the soup which already had a big load of rice noodles (which I usually couldn’t finish haha)

But I don’t know how common this is, as I never asked other Koreans about it or paid attention to it. But now I got curious so I’m asking here. How common is it? Are Burgers, sandwiches at those salad bars, potato dishes really just a snack that doesn’t make some Koreans full?
