KPop Demon Hunters nears 300 million views, poised to make Netflix history

Netflix’s animated sensation KPop Demon Hunters has become the show everyone is talking about — and it’s now racing toward a jaw-dropping milestone. With nearly 300 million views under its belt, the film is on track to do what no other Netflix title has done before: break the 300-million-view barrier.

According to Netflix’s official site Tudum on Wednesday, the film has racked up 291.5 million views to date. The title had already made headlines last month by surpassing the viewership of Squid Game Season 1 (265.2 million) and Wednesday Season 1 (252.1 million), becoming the most-watched content in Netflix’s history.

Netflix measures cumulative views over the first 91 days of release. With just one week left until the final tally on Sept. 20 — exactly 91 days after its June 20 release — industry watchers are closely watching whether KPop Demon Hunters will break the 300-million-view barrier, a first for any Netflix production.

The action-fantasy feature follows K-pop idols Rumi, Mira and Zoey, who double as world-saving heroines beyond the stage.
