Blackpink and the Boston Celtics are both successful ane divisive, with passionate fanbases that are known to be vocal. Both have benefited from good fortune—Blackpink’s global appeal due to English-speaking members and the Celtics striking gold with Tatum and Brown (from the Nets’ picks). They are juggernauts, whether you like it or not.
Twice = Milwaukee Bucks
Twice and the Bucks are steady performers, consistently successful yet somewhat underappreciated. Both faced early struggles—Twice evolving from a cute concept to a more mature sound alongside several members experiencing personal struggles, and the Bucks finding their footing with Giannis before transitioning into contender status in 2029,then finding out how to crack the “Giannis Wall”.
After their peaks in 2021, they remain successful, but have yet to reach their previous heights as Twice’s streaming numbers began to slowly decline in the next few years, and the Bucks have had early playoff exits in the years after their 2021 title.
Red Velvet = Philadelphia 76ers
Red Velvet and the 76ers are both incredibly talented but plagued by mismanagement and missed opportunities. Red Velvet lacked proper Western promotion, and the 76ers made several major mistakes in building their roster around Joel Embiid. Both have had moments of greatness but haven’t reached the heights their talents suggested, with both groups stagnating in terms of success.
Red Velvet’s tours are in inferior venues compred to Twice and Blackpink, just like the 76ers failing to advance past the second round since they became a playoff team in 2018, while the Bucks and the Celtics have been there, especially the latter. With the Process on its last legs and Yeri and Wendy’s futures with SM up in the air, both the 76ers and Red Velvet have spent their 2025 in turmoil thus far.
aespa = New York Knicks
Both went through periods of experimentation before reaching success. aespa found their stride in 2024 with strong music and a defined identity, while the Knicks, with new acquisitions like Jalen Brunson, emerged as playoff contenders. Both still have their obstacles to conquer though, with aespa’s ability to get the crowd going in their live performances and the Knicks proving themselves against top contenders.
