Yes kpop stands for KOREAN pop but when I mean western songs/music I mean like Kpop is never that serious. For example you have 16y/o girls singing about how they got everyone staring and have tons of money in kpop but in reality they are a cinnamoroll (prolly cause if they did act like that they would get hate trains)
Agencies nowadays tries to make kpop sound more … western?? or urban vibes electronic vibes right to hit charts (it doesnt really hits charts anyways) Yes there are still plenty of groups who don’t do that sound.
But I don’t get why they can’t cook something up for the studio. I can magically make a beat in my head and a song in my head that is amazing (okay self “glaze” but like if you could listen you could probably think that to) with korean (broken korean) inside.
(Edit: Take this with a pinch of salt this sentence is not really my point) The producers are professional no? Why can they only think of mid songs (sometimes). This lowkey applies to all genres of music tbh.
Western songs are more hard hitting. If you get what I mean. You can really tell the difference between kpop and western songs. There is nothing wrong with that but if they do want to expand their audience why aren’t kpop groups experimenting with more global sounds?
