I’ve been trying to understand this system for a while and I really want to break down the actual reasons international buyers need direct communication with kpop sellers from Japan or Korea.
Right now, platforms like Bunjang, Mercari jp, etc block overseas buyers from messaging sellers directly. The only way to ask anything is through a proxy service like Buyee, Zenmarket, Superbuy, Delivered Korea and so on.
Technically, these proxies can contact the seller on your behalf… but in reality it’s very slow, delayed, and requires multiple back and forth steps. For things that should take 10 seconds, it turns into a whole process.
It’s 2025! why are we still not allowed to ask basic questions ourselves? These platforms clearly profit from international buyers, why do we need a third party just to ask for an extra photo of an album? It feels unnecessarily restrictive and honestly pretty consumer unfriendly.
so i’m planning to submit a formal feedback about this system to bunjang and mercari jp. I’m putting together a list of legitimate, practical reasons why direct communication is necessary.
If you’ve ever wanted to contact a seller in Japan/Korea directly, please share your personal reasons so I can compile them.
Here’s what I have so far:
- When a seller posts multiple photocards in one listing but you want to buy only selected ones
- When only the front photo is shown and you need back/condition pics before buying
- When the description is vague and you need confirmation (first press? complete set? version?)
- When the price seems unusually low or high and you want to ask why
- When the listing says damaged or used but doesn’t show where
- When you want to clarify inclusions (Does it come with PCs? posters? POBs?)
- When the seller lists multiple items in one post but doesn’t specify which are still available
